Bayswater Council approved iCollege’s change of use application for an educational establishment at its December 3 meeting, despite a car parking shortfall of about 76 bays.

The total number of bays required was 98 bays, but councillors were convinced that the students would mainly use public transport instead of driving.

The site will cater for a maximum of 390 students and 10 staff, with a limit of 120 students on site at any one time.

Councillor Michelle Sutherland said it was good to see an educational institution in Bayswater.

Cr Sutherland said she did not think transport would be an issue as most people would catch the train or buses.

Cr Sally Palmer said it was a smart development in a smart location.

iCollege was contacted for comment.
