Elderly man dies after being struck by motorcycle

A 79-year-old man has died in hospital after being struck by a motorcycle in Bassendean on Tuesday afternoon.

Police are investigating the crash, which occurred about 4.35pm.

A black and silver Kawasaki motorcycle was travelling east on Guildford Road and the rider saw the man crossing the road near the intersection of Thompson Road.

Despite braking heavily, the man hit the pedestrian and both of them fell to the ground.

The rider of the motorcycle, a 24-year-old man also from Bassendean, received minor injuries.

Major Crash investigators would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the crash, the Kawasaki or pedestrian prior to the crash.
