Embleton car fire causes thousands in damage, traffic delays

A MECHANICAL fire in a car caused $15,000 damage and peak hour traffic confusion in Embleton yesterday.

Traffic was blocked from travelling north along Broun Avenue when the fire started at about 5.30pm.

A Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said the department was alerted to the fire by police at 5.50pm.

One crew from Perth attended and extinguished the fire by 6.05pm.

Traffic was backed up along Broun Avenue while the fire was blazing, with tow truck drivers directing cars down side streets.
