Mt Lawley Inglewood RSL president Oliver Levelle shared his uncle’s experience during and after World War I.

“My great uncle landed in April, 1915 and spent about six weeks on the battlefield,” he said.

“He was later taken to a mental home because he never really recovered from it. The fighting, noise and threat of death sent people over the top.”

He said it was up to the children to promote peace and be kind to each other.

Mt Lawley Inglewood RSL will host a free gunfire breakfast from 8.30am on Monday, April 25 at the Mt Lawley Bowling Club.
