Firefighters extinguish blaze at derelict house in Midland

FIREFIGHTERS have converged on the scene of a fire at a derelict house in Midland early this morning.

The fire was reported at 4.30am at a vacant property on Railway Parade, near Padbury Terrace and Sayers Street.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) arrived at the house to find a mattress on fire inside the house, and promptly extinguished the blaze at approximately 4.41am.

A police spokeswoman confirmed they attended the scene and took a person into custody.
