Firie left shattered by station closure

Mr Smith, who has volunteered for five years, said DFES would look to move local firefighters into other emergency services.

He said it was something he would talk to his team about before making a decision.

‘I’m looking at that but the brigade has been around for 102 years, so it’s very disappointing obviously for the members and the community,’ Mr Smith said.

‘I’m going to chat to a few of the emergency services including the Defence Force and will go back to the brigade with some of the options and see what they say.’
