PERTH is garnering a reputation as the garage sale capital of Australia, if the number of registrations for this weekend’s Garage Sale Trail is anything to go by.
Almost every local government in Perth is involved in the campaign, and as of Friday WA had nearly 20 per cent of the registered sales in the country.

Garage Sale Trail founder and partner Andrew Valder said that was an incredible effort.
“There are 2462 registered garage sales (in WA) and stalls or 19 per cent of the national total. Not bad for a state with 10 per cent of the population,” Mr Valder said.
“More than 20 per cent of our web traffic is coming from WA.
“Of the most popular garage sales, as liked on Facebook, four of the top six most-liked sales are from Perth.
“We’re stoked with the depth of breadth of people and organisations involved and it’s what makes this initiative so great … everyone’s in.”
There are a whole host of different themes to the sales, from the weird to the wonderful.

There’s also the Wild and Wonderful Garage Sale in Malaga or huge community sales, like the Lake Monger Market.
