AN 83-year-old West Australian woman has lost $557,000 after hackers intercepted emails about a property purchase settlement.
The case is one of three recent Perth real estate-related frauds believed to have been perpetrated by overseas criminals, the WA consumer protection department said on Tuesday.
In the other cases, two clients of a settlement agency lost a total of $25,658.
Three renters were duped into transferring $7300 in bond money to the bank account of a scammer pretending to be a property manager.
