WA Youth Jazz Orchestra (WAYJO) moved into the Eighth Avenue venue this year and established an online fundraising Pozible page to support renovations.
Marketing co-ordinator Adam Livingston said the campaign was the first step in a multi-phased fundraising plan.
He said the money would go towards equipment and fitting out the office and rehearsal space.
"Future campaigns are planned which will focus on building signage, acoustic treatments and eventually bringing the building up to code as a public performing arts facility," he said. The funds required to bring the building up to code are significant, with initial estimates being upwards of $3 million.
