The 77-year-old donates plasma fortnightly and has given more than 200 litres over 466 donations.
Mr Upston, who has donated plasma for about 50 years, was one of 500 milestone donors acknowledged by the Australian Red Cross Blood Service.
‘When I worked in the mine they were always asking for blood, people needed it badly and I’ve kept at it ever since.’
Mr Upston who gives at the Joondalup Blood Donor Centre said he encouraged anyone who could donate, to do so.
