High-speed police chase ends in crash

A HIGH-speed pursuit through Perth’s eastern suburbs has almost ended in disaster after the alleged perpetrators crashed into another car last night.

Police took two people into custody after a black Holden Commodore collided with a blue Ford Focus while attempting to escape police in Westminster.

The four occupants of the car did not receive serious injuries and were assessed by St John Ambulance at the scene.

The chase began around 7.40pm when officers sighted the Holden travelling at speed on Amelia Street in Balcatta.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, however the driver allegedly failed to comply with police and travelled to Westminster.

The driver failed to negotiate a left-hand turn at the Ravenswood Drive and Mirrabooka Avenue intersection, sliding sideways into the side of the Ford.

Police have charged a 26 year-old Queens Park woman with possessing drug paraphernalia which contained a prohibited drug or plant and being the driver of a vehicle which failed to comply with a direction to stop in circumstance of aggravation.

She was also charged with reckless driving to escape pursuit by police, having no authority to drive and breach of bail and will appear in Perth Magistrates Court today.

A 21 year-old man will be summonsed for drug related offences.
