As part of the commitment, $140.6 million will go towards the Tonkin Highway redevelopment and more than $500m over 10 years for either the light rail project or the airport rail link.
According to the Federal Department of Infrastructure and Transport, the funding for the Tonkin Highway is a 50-50 agreement with the State Government, while the $500m would depend on what the state’s priority was.
The Tonkin Highway redevelopment will include intersections at Benara Road, Morley Drive and Collier Road designed to improve freight movements.
