A Western Power spokesman said the outage started early this morning after a fault was detected by safety devices and triggered the unplanned outage.

“An emergency response crew has since completed work to isolate the pole and our network operation staff are looking at opportunities to restore power to as many of the affected customers as possible,” he said.

“A small number of customers will remain off while the pole is repaired because their individual connections run directly off the damaged pole.

“With the sudden shift in weather sweeping across the metro area we would encourage anyone who sees any damage to the network to ‘Make the Safe Call’ to Western Power on 13 13 51 so we can get a crew to site to ensure the area is safe.

“Remember also to stay at least 8m clear of any hazard or damage you may see on the network.”
