CUSTOMERS of one of Australia’s most turned-to banks, ING, have been stranded at shops without access to online banking, mobile app or phone assistance this afternoon due to an unexpected outage.
In a Facebook post, the bank apologised for the inconvenience.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience with this outage, at this stage we don’t have an update but we are working hard on getting this resolved as quickly as possible,” it read.
“Our IT team are investigating it right now and we hope to have the service back up and running as normal soon.
“At this stage there is no ETA but we will keep you updated with any news.”
Stories are filtering through on how the situation is affecting thousands across Australia.
One man has pointed the finger at prominent author Scott Pape, whose book the Barefoot Investor recommends ING for personal banking.
It hasn’t been all bad though – in some situations, the outage has also allowed the good side of workers and fellow shoppers to shine.
In a six-month survey last year, ING was voted Australia’s Most Recommended Bank among 16 financial institutions.
