Two years ago, the Bassendean resident wanted to cut off his hair to raise money for cancer research after his friend did it.

“My friend cut his hair but I wanted to do something a bit different,” he said

“I’m a big fan of movies so I wrote letters to Aussie movie stars and asked for signed photos to auction, but no one replied. So I went back to the drawing board and thought I should make my own movie scenes instead.”

For two years, Jack dressed up as his favourite movie characters and recreated famous key scenes which gained more than 1400 “likes” on his Facebook page.

Last week, West coast Eagles Luke Shuey and Andrew Gaff helped the film buff chop off his locks.

“What Jack has done has blown me away; raising $9000 for Cancer Council WA is outstanding,” Shuey said.

Jack said he would take a break from fundraising to allow his hair to return to a more manageable state.

He offered advice for people who were thinking about giving fundraising a go.

“Some people may think they are too small or too young to help people with cancer, but everyone can do something,” he said.
