The family-friendly event will include performances by local bands, carnival rides, art and food stalls.
Also on the agenda, event artist Phil Doncon will present Paint Storm, a massive canvas inspired by all things Australian, all done to the live stage tunes.
The event starts at 5pm and continues through until 9pm, with everyone’s eyes turning to the sky at 8pm for the fireworks.
Mayor John Gangell said the event was always popular for residents and visitors to the Town and he was looking forward to celebrating along with Australia Day ambassador Lisa Fernandez who will attend the Town’s event for the first time.
The former radio personality will talk about her family’s Australian experience.
‘There is no better way to celebrate Australia Day then being at the Town of Bassendean Australia Day Festival and Fireworks Show on Ashfield Reserve,’ Cr Gangell said.
‘This family-friendly event is ideal for friends and families to meet up for a picnic as the sun goes down to celebrate our great nation with some wonderful entertainment including live bands, festival rides, stalls and of course fireworks.’
Cr Gangell also urged people to walk, ride or catch public transport.
Cyclists can park their bikes in the free secure on-site Bicycle Valet and go in the running to win prizes.
