Kirup Stages Rally tight at the top

David FriedlosEastern Reporter

DYLAN King and Abbey Hayes overcame the slippery conditions of the Kirup Stages Rally, winning all six stages in their Subaru WRX STi to secure top spot in the championship with just one round to go.

“Going into this event only 10 points behind the championship lead, we had one aim and that was to focus on our own rally and finish,” co-driver Hayes said.

“We don’t have a strategy for the final round; we’ll just go out and do the best we can. We might even come home with the championship.”

For the first two stages they were cha-sed by John and Tahni Macara until a rough landing caused mech-anical issues in their Mitsubishi Evo 7.
