FOUR local school leaders leapt at the chance to go on a whirlwind trip to England to meet some of the world’s best educational leaders and policy makers.
West Beechboro Primary School principal Ray Boyd and associate principal Gail Higgins (not pictured), and Dianella Heights Primary School principal Greg Sullivan and deputy principal Anika Blackmore packed their pens, pencils and a notebook for a 10-day tour this month, visiting schools and colleges and rubbing shoulders with Rhodes Scholars and London Institute of Education representatives.
The tour taught them how they could improve quality teaching at their schools.
The four leaders agreed the trip was valuable.

READ NOW“A lot of our questions were answered and it got us thinking deeply about what we are doing in our own schools. It really broadened our thinking,” Mr Sullivan said.
They discussed England’s education system and heard case studies from senior leaders from the London Institute of Education, Nottingham University, Rhodes House Oxford and Durham University.
The trip was part of the University of Western Australia Master of School Leadership Program, which they are enrolled in.
