Lions Club hope cakes will do roaring trade ahead of Xmas

The club will be running community events at Bunnings Warehouse Morley on December 17 and 18, from 10am to noon.

Funds will go towards local community projects throughout the year.

The Lions Club City of Perth president Halina Young said she expected plenty of people at the statewide cake fundraisers.

“We are certainly excited because it gives us the great presence in the community and the Lions’ Christmas cakes and the Lions’ badge is something that the people identify immediately online,” she said.

“It can be a busy time with people coming through to do their Christmas shopping.

“People would always drop by to say hello and generally most of them do buy a cake to put on the table at Christmas, it gives them some joy, a great taste and the joy continues when we are able to use the process of selling Christmas cakes to invent joy all year round.”

Ms Young said clubs would receive many requests from the community for support.

“We also have a computer restoration program where some of our members recycle computers for people in need who may not necessarily have the means to purchase a computer,” she said.
