Live advent calendar in Bassendean

Julian WrightEastern Reporter

TWENTY-four businesses on Old Perth Road will help create a live advent calendar this December.

This year marks the first time Bassendean will take part in a Living Advent Calendar, borrowing an idea that originated in Stockholm.

Businesses will give away treats and offer specials on their allocated day in December.

A poster displaying who is involved can be found in all participating shop windows and on the Town of Bassendean’s website, the Bassendean Arts and Events Facebook page, or pick up a flyer from the library.

All the participating businesses will decorate their windows.

An old-fashioned red pillar-box which will appear every day in front of the outlet offering their delights in December, which will also allow youngsters to write to Santa.

Town of Bassendean Mayor John Gangell said the project, which was a collaboration with the Rev Alison Gilchrist of St Marks Anglican Church, will run for 24 days.
