MAYLANDS has been named one of global travel authority Lonely Planet’s coolest neighbourhoods in Australia.

Lonely Planet asked three of its author-experts to select the coolest neighbourhoods in Australia to visit right now to celebrate the November release of its Australia guidebook range.

Perth-based Lonely Planet local Fleur Bainger said the once-shady suburb evolved into a buzzing community hub with a “gritty, yet artisanal edge”.

“Bonus points if you find Rossonero pizzeria, hidden on Lyric Lane.”

Adelaide’s West End and Newstead in Brisbane were the other two coolest neighbourhoods.

Lonely Planet formed in 1973 and has printed more than 148 million books across 13 different languages to most destinations on the planet.
