RHYTHMIC drumming is being used as a tool to help kids improve their confidence and foster friendships at Maida Vale Primary School.

Orange Grove Primary School teacher Aaron Bathols has been running the classes at the school and said the results speak for themselves.

“When some of the kids first started they were quite withdrawn and lacking confidence,” he said.

“But parents and teachers have given me a lot of positive feedback that over the past two terms these kids have really come out of their shell.

“The beauty of drumming is that it is communal and builds friendships within the group.

“We had a goal to perform at end of term and while some were hesitant at first they formed the band Boom Crew and created a music video.
