There will also be a see-saw added to the playground and sand being replaced with an astro-turf mat.

President Stephen Cauchi said since the association started in 1959, Lotterywest have been of great assistance.

“As part of the association’s plans to attract young families who will hopefully keep the club going for another 50 years, we applied for a Lotterywest grant to update our children’s play area,” he said.

“The project is well underway and on track to be ready for the spring (season).”

Mr Kelly said the association had called Bassendean home for a long time and were still growing.

“Bassendean is a very community-minded area and it’s great to see the association expand within the Maltese and the wider Bassendean community,” he said.

The association is located at 1 May Holman Drive, Bassendean and holds dinner nights every Friday for members and guests.
