Marron fishing to end on February 5

The season closes at noon on February 5.

Fisheries Minister Ken Baston said about 14,000 people sought licences to fish for marron at rivers and dams around WA, including Moore River and its tributaries.

“Stay safe, watch the clock because daily bag limits apply from noon to noon the next day, “ he said.

“Know your possession limit and other rules and enjoy a great WA fishing experience.

The daily bag limit is eight. Each marron must be greater than 80mm in size and fishers must abide by legal fishing gear requirements.

Fisheries and marine officers will be on patrol during the season and people can call FishWatch on 1800 815 507 to report offences or if they see marron impacted by low water levels or water quality. A guide to marron fishing is available at www.fish.wa.gov.au.
