Kristie LimEastern Reporter

FORMER The Blockcontestants Matt and Kim Di Costa will be returning to their roots in the Bayswater area at an upcoming renovation seminar.

The former Embleton residents, who also starred in their own show Matt and Kim to the Rescue on Channel 9, will join their friend and Loan Market Ellenbrook finance broker Anthony Roe and Carter’s Real Estate’s Daniel Warne at a free event at the Bayswater Lacrosse Club on June 20.

Now residing in Mt Hawthorn, the pair have been focusing on their concrete furniture company Nood Co, while travelling and spending time with family.

Matt said it was nice to go back and help the Morley area, where his family still lived in.

“My Embleton house – I must have spent my entire life there and it really hits home for me,” he said.

“Living in Mt Hawthorn feels quite strange because I am an Embleton-Morley boy.

“The most recent one (renovation) that we did was in Mt Hawthorn, which is a two-storey extension, completed about a year ago.”

Matt said he developed a checklist for people to put in place before buying a property.

“Basically it is an opportunity to share our design and going through the beginning of our journey of how we bought into property, what we chose to do with each property, the decisions we made and the renovations that we put in place based on our skill set,” he said.

“(I have) different design tips on how to do cosmetic renovations and help people to get a bit more of a clear picture of which house to buy and what they are going to do when they do buy it.”

His tips include putting emphasis in light areas and outdoor spaces, understand how a buyer would view the house before doing renovations, assessing skill sets and forming a budget.

The couple are looking to do more events and are in the early stages of working on a potential new show.
