A MAYLANDS artist drew inspiration from the outdoors to create an award-winning painting in two hours.

Zoe Kerbey (14) won two youth awards at the City of Mandurah’s first Plein Air Down Under Outdoor Painting Festival last month.

Her painting, titled Foreshore Trees, was selected by judges Gillian Peebles and Warwick Fuller for a highly commended prize and the quick draw youth winner award

Zoe was among 100 artists who created a work of art from scratch and outdoors in two hours as part of the festival.

The Perth Waldorf School Year 8 student said she enjoyed painting alongside talented artists in Mandurah.

“Selling one of my watercolours and receiving two awards was the icing on the cake and I can’t wait to do the oil painting workshop with Leon Holmes,” she said.
