POLICE have charged a 28-year-old man who caused a disturbance with an axe and a knife at a Maylands unit complex yesterday afternoon.
Around 2.45pm, police received multiple calls regarding the man repeatedly striking a security door with an axe and a knife at the complex on East Street.
Officers arrived and attempted to speak to the man, but received no response, promoting the arrival of additional police, including the Tactical Response Group.
A negotiator attempted to speak to the man and when no response was received, Tactical Response Group officers forced entry to the premises and arrested the man without incident, before seizing the axe and knife.
