A MORLEY-BASED artist has been left “devastated” after two paintings she put her “soul” into were robbed from her studio.

Galleria Art Studio owner Karen Frankel left two canvases out to dry in the studio’s carport on Monday.

Ms Frankel said a 50cm square floral piece and a 40cm square still life were stolen between 11.30am and 1pm.

She said she was “rather devastated” and had hoped to sell the two pieces at her end-of-year solo exhibition.

“It’s so personal… it’s not something I bought. I put my soul into it,” she said.

“It’s a joy to sell someone a piece to put on their wall.

“What would somebody do with it?”

Ms Frankel said she reported the theft to police and had checked Gumtree, Facebook, Cash Converters and nearby dumpsters for signs of the art.

She said her friends told her at least the thief “has good taste”.

If you have information about the incident his morning is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report online.
