BUDDING engineers from John Forrest Secondary College took home the Australian International Model Solar Car Challenge title in a dynamic race to the finish line.
The college sent four teams to Sydney for the challenge held from December 8 to 9.

READ NOWIts Dynamic Vector team, captained by Year 11 student Si Wei Lin, was named the overall winner after gaining the most points from races, a first-place finish for its five-minute video about the design and construction of their car and a knowledge test.
The team beat 25 other teams from Australia and Taiwan competing in the challenge where students designed, built and raced model solar cars around a 100m track.
Teacher Robert Woodward said all students worked well together to build and race the cars.
“To win the overall championship despite the fact that our cars were not the fastest cars at the challenge is an incredible achievement,” he said.
“To me, it demonstrates that quality of the education the students receive at John Forrest, which has developed in them skills in media, communication, computing, technical drawing as well as science and engineering that assisted them in this competition.”
