Kristie LimEastern Reporter

According to NBN Co WA corporate affairs manager Ebony Aitken, work has begun in Bassendean, Beechboro, Caversham, Eden Hill, Guildford, South Guildford, Kiara, Lockridge and Morley.

More than 23,7000 homes and businesses will be connected in parts of these suburbs, as well as sections of Bassendean, Ashfield and West Swan where works are due to start in the next few months.

Ms Aitken said the first areas were expected to start switching to NBN later this year.

“This is exciting news for residents and businesses in the area who will soon be able to experience the benefits of super-fast broadband,” she said.

“Using the internet has become part of our everyday lives. In fact, we are expected to spend 22 more days on the internet this year than we did two years ago. The roll-out is gaining momentum in WA, with more than 380,000 premises now able to access fast and reliable broadband.”

Ms Aitken said nine million homes would be able to gain access to NBN by June 2018.
