Toyah ShakespeareEastern Reporter

CITY of Bayswater’s new chief executive Andrew Brien will take up his post on June 6 after fast tracking his departure from City of Bunbury.

Eight out of 11 Bayswater councillors voted in support of letting go of former chief executive Francesca Lefante last August, wanting the local government take a “new direction.”

Ms Lefante, previously the director of planning and development services, had been at the City 15 years.

In March, Mr Brien was appointed as the new leader and granted a $319,625 package and a five-year contract.

He has been the Bunbury chief executive for six years and Bunbury council recently approved a request to bring forward his departure date to May 19.

City of Bayswater finance and corporate services director Carissa Bywater will continue as acting chief executive until Mr Brien takes up the position.

The City of Bunbury will appoint a recruitment firm and shortlisted applicants will be put to its council after the October local government elections.
