New Bayswater industrial estate to be completed by mid-2018

THE transformation of a “derelict” site into a new industrial estate in Bayswater is expected to be completed by mid-2018, according to a real estate agent director.

Developer Linc Property’s Tonkin Highway Industrial Estate on Railway Parade is located 8km east of the Perth CBD, 3km from Perth Airport and provides connections to Roe, Reid, Great Eastern and Leach highways.

Stage 1 of the development of the 36 ha or 360,000 sq m site was expected to be completed within the next three weeks.

The estate will feature landscaped public open spaces, entry statements, on-street parking, street trees and general industrial zoned lots sized between 1200sq m and 2ha.

Also part of the estate is Lot 188 – a site touted for food and coffee options – which is located on the corner of Railway Parade and the Wicks Street extension, facing Guildford Road and the Tonkin Highway exit.

Raine and Horne Commercial WA director Anthony Vulinovich said estate construction started after works began in January 2017, so to date it would be just over 12 months to deliver Stage 1 to the market as finished.

“On an aesthetic front, it transforms a derelict industrial site into a brand new, connected, industrial estate that can accommodate a variety of uses and bespoke property designs that will present well to both the Tonkin Hwy and Guildford Road traffic.

“On an economic front, it will further establish the area as a key metropolitan industrial precinct, providing increased employment opportunities and business opportunities for the surrounding and broader areas.”

Mr Lisle said the supply of industrial land had been limited in Bayswater and Bassendean and the estate provided an opportunity for owners of ageing facilities to relocate.

Linc Property director Ben Lisle said the group had been interested in the site for more than 10 years before buying it in late 2016.

“We have been working closely with the Bayswater council and our skilled consultant team to create an estate that will deliver high quality landscaping and design outcomes, positioning Tonkin Highway Industrial Estate as Perth’s best new industrial address,” he said.
