NORANDA singer Jake Dennis hopes to attract 1000 people with covers of “forgotten gems” at the upcoming Jazz in the Park event in Maylands.
The 27-year-old, who heads the Jake Dennis Jazz Band, will be joined by the WA Youth Jazz Orchestra at Bardon Park on January 13 for the first City of Bayswater feature event of 2018.
Dennis, who started performing at eight years of age, said his band would be covering songs by Nina Simone, Ray Charles and Nat King Cole.

READ NOW“I like to take these classics and forgotten gems and mark them with my own style,” he said.
“I have got a lot of heart and soul.
“I love the lyrics and I like bringing back memories to people.”
Dennis said he was a “big entertainment man” and enjoyed performing outdoors.
“We have these family crowds – you have the kids who want to dance and the adults who are grooving,” he said.
“In 2018, I would love to finally record a cover album and hopefully do more gigs like this where you get to have a lot of fun with the audience.”
The Jazz in the Park event will be held from 6pm to 9.30pm on January 13.
