Toyah ShakespeareEastern Reporter

A 60-YEAR-OLD music and drama competition will be known as the City of Bayswater North of Perth Music Festival from next year.

Bayswater City Council moved to support the eisteddfod-style event, currently called the North of Perth Music Festival, for a 30th year and become a major sponsor with a $21,900 offering.

Some 800 people have already applied for categories for the September festival including for vocalist, pianist, string and dramatic solo performances.

Mayor Barry McKenna said they would announce the name change at the end of the event, aimed to recognise the City’s long history with the event.
