NorthLink WA: Marshall Road flyover opens

Kristie LimEastern Reporter

MOTORISTS travelling through Ballajura, Malaga and Beechboro now have access to a flyover at Marshall Road over Tonkin Highway.

The flyover will open this evening, marking another step towards completion of the NorthLink WA project.

It will separate traffic from the works, allowing construction to start on Tonkin Highway near Marshall Road.

Cyclists and pedestrians will be diverted onto the flyover via a temporary footpath along the northern side of Marshall Road, which connects to the existing path on Beechboro Road North.

In coming weeks, Hepburn Avenue traffic will also be redirected beneath new interchange bridges.

The project is funded by the Federal ($821 million) and State ($204 million) governments and is being delivered by Main Roads WA.

Transport Minister Rita Saffioti said the changes would free up local roads and enhance the amenity for communities.

“As part of the overall network of changes, Marshall Road flyover will ultimately deliver faster, safer travel times for motorists,” she said.

“This means faster commuting between the growing suburb of Bennett Springs and the Malaga industrial area.”
