O2 in Bassendean to open small bar and restaurant extension in March

Kristie LimEastern Reporter

BASSENDEAN cafe O2 will be officially opening its extended small bar and restaurant next month, after a year of renovations.

Owners Michelle Glass and Andrew Mimmo, who hail from Melbourne, opened their cafe on Old Perth Road in 2016.

It stemmed from Mr Mimmo’s idea to run a cafe alongside his plant wall business.

Now, his dream to open a small bar and restaurant has come to life.

The venue will be serving modern-Australian dishes, Italian pizzas and pastas, WA wines and more.

Following a trial run during last weekend’s WonderRealm Bassendean Fringe World Festival, the duo are holding a soft opening on Wednesday.

Ms Glass said most of the construction works were done over Christmas.

“It is still a work in progress but we are getting there,” she said.

“The goal is to get this restaurant up and running and popular and consistent – that is the next step.

“We want to stay competitive and family-friendly and we want to listen to what this community wants.

“We have both come from Melbourne so we are giving a Melbourne feel here too.”

She said they would try use as much local produce and alcohol as possible.

O2 is open from 7.30am until late.

The all-day breakfast menu is available until 2pm, pizzas will be available from noon and the steak, seafood and pizza menu will be available from 5pm.
