Occupants of Eden Hill house fined for selling drugs

Kristie LimEastern Reporter

TWO tenants of a house in Northmoor Road, Eden Hill, were found guilty of selling drugs and fined more than $1000 at a court appearance last month.

In November 2016, the Housing Authority handed down a 60-day eviction notice on the tenants, who were linked to alleged syringe issue at Jubilee Reserve.

The eviction notice ends on January 31.

A resident’s group was formed in June last year to combat the drug activity surrounding the Reserve, which is home to sporting clubs including Bassendean Cricket Club and Bassendean Junior Soccer Club.

Kiara Police officer-in-charge Mark Stoneman said the tenants were charged with drug offences following a raid of the property.

Bassendean MLA Dave Kelly said the outcome was a win for the community.

“This outcome has only come about because local residents made it clear to the Police Minister, Liza Harvey that doing nothing was not acceptable,” he said.
