Orlando massacre: Perth to hold candle-light vigil to honour those killed in gay nightclub shooting

PERTH will host a candle-light vigil for the victims of the Orlando shooting massacre on Wednesday night.

Fifty people were killed and dozens more injured when American-born Omar Mateen opened fire inside a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, on Sunday evening Perth time.

It was the deadliest mass shooting in US history.

The vigil will take place at the Perth Cultural Centre James Street Amphitheatre from 6:30pm until 7:30pm.

Organisers said the event was to “stand in solidarity with the victims, friends and families affected by the homophobic and transphobic shootings in Orlando nightclub Pulse”.
