IN an “uncertain” time of combating the COVID-19 pandemic and panic buying, a Maylands café is offering its help by giving free toilet paper to customers.

Garden Café on Guildford has launched a free toilet paper initiative, in light of the coronavirus.

Each customer, who are in need of toilet paper, can receive one Bibbulmun Toilet Roll.

The cafe is also delivering rolls to any elderly people who need toilet paper.

The Bibbulmun Fund supports Indigenous communities by using targeted programs about education, numeracy and literacy, reclaiming culture and language courses to develop them in life-changing ways.

Owner Tom Bui said the café wanted to share its spare toilet rolls with customers while supporting the Bibbulmun community during this “uncertain” time.

“While many of our elderly customers are upset about the current shortage of toilet rolls, we have the opportunity to buy these Bibbulmun products from our local supplier,” he said.

“Our customers love it.

“While some of us have a good laugh others feel relief as they have been struggle to get toilet paper from the supermarket.

“We also received many positive responses on our social media.”

Mr Bui said he and his staff felt happy to see the smiles on their customers’ faces especially the elderly.

“We believe no act of kindness, no matter small, is ever wasted and it will become more meaningful when it comes in the right time and at the right place,” he said.

“Especially in this time of needs and confusion and fear, we believe this small gift is a way to our neighbours.”

He said the café ramped up its cleaning measures, suggested social distancing and implemented an online ordering system with free delivery in the area.

“We have implemented the high level of hygiene procedures including anti-bacteria cleaning and disinfecting often-touched surfaces,” he said.

“We have also installed touch-less hand sanitiser dispenser and have disinfected wipes available to use in our shop.

“We closely follow the instruction the health experts and the Government and will take any immediate required actions to ensure our staffs and customers are safe.”

Garden Café on Guildford is located at 317 Guildford Road in Maylands.
