HAVE you had trouble finding bread to buy?
Local supermarket shelves are looking one loaf short of a breadbasket after there was a shortage of certain brands of bread.
A shortage of Tip Top bread and Buttercup hit WA supermarkets after a machine at the Canning Vale-based bakery reportedly broke down.
Yesterday (September 27), North Road Supa IGA posted on Facebook that there had been a “there had been a massive machinery breakdown overnight at the bakery”.
Another IGA posted a similar message, another Supa IGA store reported a shortage as well, adding “the bread will be back tomorrow”.
But a Tip Top spokesperson would not confirm the reason behind the shortage – simply saying, “we’re in production now and there’s no further comment”.
