Perth Easter fuel prices expected to fall?

Staff ReporterEastern Reporter

WE’LL believe it when we see it, but a downward fuel price trend is expected to bring cheaper fuel this Easter, according to consumer advice website comparethemarket.com.au.

The website, which updates its petrol price data three times daily, showed Perth was predicted to be nearing the bottom of the price cycle over Easter.

A spokeswoman said Perth residents were “in for an Easter treat with prices expected to fall over the long weekend”.

“But motorists shouldn’t hold out for too long as prices should peak again next Tuesday,” she said.

The prediction was based on the trend of fuel prices over the last quarter from December 25 to March 25.

The spokeswoman said the average Perth price for unleaded fuel over the quarter was about 137.2c/L.

The cheapest suburb was South Lake, where prices were as low as 120.8c/L.

As such, if comparethemarket.com.au’s predictions are correct we’ll be expecting prices cheaper than 137.2c/L over Easter.

We can only hope.
