Perth rainfall: records tumble as huge deluge hits City

Staff WriterEastern Reporter

PERTH has a chance to record its wettest day ever, as a huge band of rain drenches the city.

More than 115mm has fallen in the metro area since 9am on Thursday, and the wettest 24-hour period ever was the 120.6mm that fell – amazingly, the same date – on February 9, 1992.

That means it is already Perth’s second-wettest day ever recorded.

The rain also helped produce Perth’s lowest ever recorded maximum temperature for February, with the mercury only reaching 17.4 degrees on Thursday.

The rain is forecast to ease later on Friday, with a forecast top of 27.
