Perth Stadium seating designs revealed

Laura PondEastern Reporter

SPORTS fans will have more seating space and access to cup-holders at the future Perth Stadium.

Members of the Sports Fan User Group and Sport and Recreation Minister Mia Davies viewed the first of 60,000 seats that will be installed at the venue.

Neutral colours have been chosen for the seating, which Ms Davies said followed 18 months of consultation and testing.

“The seat colour and design had to be durable for the WA climate, visually appealing, comfortable, not impact on on-field performance and offer contrast to the colours of our home teams,” she said.

“The general admission seats are 50cm wide with rubber cup-holders that will be located on the back of every seat.”

Ms Davies said they were as wide as two bench seats at Subiaco Oval.

More than 40 per cent of stadium construction has been completed, with seat installation to start early next year.

The venue is due to open in time for the 2018 AFL season.
