Perth weather: strong winds hit Perth overnight

WIND gusts of up to 87km/h and heavy rain hit Perth overnight making for a squally winter’s eve.

The highest wind gust was recorded at Ocean Reef, reaching 87km/h about 2am.

Nearby Hillarys Boat Harbour, hit 85km/h about 4.30am and Garden Island maxed out at 85km/h about 12.30am.

Bickley copped the heaviest downpour yesterday recording 28.6mm of rain.

In the city, wind gusts reached 57km/h about 12.50am and there was 10mm of rain.

Winds reached 80km/h in Jandakot about 3.30am and 61km/h in Mandurah about 5.20am.

The rain is expected to ease today with a possibility of up to 6mm and 17C maximum.

The weather is predicted to continue improving through to the weekend with a minimal chance of rain.
