High temperatures may cause train delays next week.

UPDATE: Transperth has advised that heat speed restrictions are in place on all train lines from 12.30pm on Monday until further notice.

TRANSPERTH is warning passengers they may face delays next week if forecast high temperatures occur.

In line with national operating and safety standards, train speeds are reduced by about 20km/h when temperatures reach 39C and a further 10km/h when it hits 41C.

The Bureau of Meteorology has predicted maximum temperatures of 42C on Monday and Tuesday, 41C for Wednesday and 39C on Thursday.

Transperth advised that because speeds restrictions have a cumulative effect, delay lengths will vary across the network and will affect connections for some users.
