City of Bayswater councillor Catherine Ehrhardt asked the council to explore place management roles for the City’s town centres to drive “innovative economic, retail and place making strategies”.
The role will aim to ensure each community or place has a distinct character and vision.
The place manager would be a single point of contact to work with the community to plan programs and services that work best for that particular place.
However, Cr Alan Radford said the newly created economic development officer position could also carry out the place manager role.
Cr John Rifici said four different people in four town sites “might be overkill”.
Deputy Mayor Stephanie Coates said she would prefer a place manager to an economic development officer
A report will go before a council workshop.
