Police charge driver of BMW torn in half during chase

POLICE have charged the driver of a BMW which was torn in two following a chase in Malaga yesterday morning.

Police attempted to stop the sedan on Wellington Road in Morley around just before midday, but the man allegedly accelerated away from police.

He evaded police from Morley to Malaga and allegedly rammed a police vehicle on Beach Road, before losing control of the vehicle.

The BMW crossed the median strip onto the incorrect side of the road and collided into a Hyundai, which caued injuries to the driver and passenger.

The 24-year-old Aveley man was arrested at the scene and was charged with having no authority to drive, failure to comply with a direction to stop in circumstances of aggravation, reckless driving to escape pursuit by police and two counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm in circumstances of aggravation.

He remains in hospital and is expected to appear in Perth Magistrates Court today via a video link.

The driver of the BMW and the driver and passenger of the Hyundai were all taken to Royal Perth Hospital with injuries.
