Police charge teenager after alleged damage, arson attacks in Morley and Embleton

POLICE have charged a 16-year-old boy in relation to two separate incidents in which he allegedly smashed the rear window of a car then set fire to the house of people known to him.

Police and the Department of Fire and Emergency Services were called to a house in Sudlow Street, Embleton at 6.20pm last night after reports of smoke.

The house was on fire and fire fighters extinguished the blaze – but not before significant damage was caused to the house and contents.

A 16-year-old boy, who police say knew the occupant of the house, was charged with criminal damage by fire.

Police also charged the boy with with criminal damage or destruction of property over an earlier incident in Morley.

The boy allegedly smashed the rear window of a car owned by another person known to him.

The 16-year-old was refused bail and will appear in the Perth Children’s Court on Tuesday, June 5.
