HAIR salons have been targeted by offenders in a recent spate of burglaries in Maylands, Bayswater and Mt Lawley.

Bayswater police officer-in-charge John Waghorn said there were 13 commercial and residential burglaries recorded from September 20 to September 25.

“Some of the commercial burglaries are focused around hairdressing salons,” he said.

“It happens ever so often where these hairdressing salons get knocked off.

“(Offenders) will often take things like hair straighteners which are worth $400 or $500 each and then they can go out to the black market and sell it for $200.”

He said about four salons in Maylands had been affected.

“These spikes often may be linked to people who just got out of jail and people who just finished some process in court,” he said.

Report suspicious activity to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online.
