A BASSENDEAN man was charged on November 15 with a string of offences after allegedly driving erratically in a stolen grey Corolla in Victoria Park.
A police spokesman said about 10pm police were on their way to a complaint of a handbag robbery when they saw the car being driven erratically before it crashed into another vehicle on Berwick Street.
“It will be alleged five people fled from the Corolla; an adult male driver and two juveniles passengers were apprehended,” he said.
There were minor injuries to a juvenile and the driver of the other car.
The spokesman said it would be alleged the Corolla was stolen from a Victoria Park shopping centre on November 3.
“It is known to have been involved in a number of incidents since that time and a quantity of property believed to be stolen was also found in the car,” he said.
A 19-year-old Bassendean man was charged with reckless driving, stealing a motor vehicle, no authority to drive, failing to stop and failing to render assistance after a crash.
He appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on November 16, to reappear on December 7. A 17-year-old St James boy was charged with stealing and trespass and is due in Perth Children’s Court at a later date.
